A Grenoble PhD student wins the Researcher-Entrepreneur Challenge competition
The national final of the Researcher-Entrepreneur Challenge was held in Paris on 22nd November 2018.
Nineteen candidates, doctoral students, young doctors, researchers and start-up managers presented their innovative projects to a jury of experts in the field of commercialization. Camille Crouzet from Grenoble was awarded the Émergence prize with his HYMAG'IN project.
The Emergence Prize (€1,000) was awarded to the start-up, HYMAG'IN (currently being set up), led by Camille Crouzet (future CEO) from the Institut des sciences de la Terre (ISTerre - CNRS/IFFSTAR/IRD/UGA/USMB). HYMAG'IN aims to market high-performance magnetite, iron oxide Fe3O4, in industrial quantities and at a low cost. This ambition is made possible by the development of an innovative process for the production of magnetite by recycling ferrous waste from the steel industry. Among all the applications of interest, Hymagin offers its high-performance magnetite primarily to water treatment operators for the removal of heavy metals and micropollutants.
“I am working to develop a process for producing nanomagnetites by recycling ferrous waste as part of the HYMAG'IN project supported by the SATT Linksium de Grenoble. The project’s aim is to promote my research work to industry through the creation of a start-up. I devoted 2018 to this industrial transfer through the development of applications for the nanomagnetites produced. This project is based on the results of my thesis carried out at ISTerre in December 2016."
