PhD Recruitment
Employment is closely linked to the issue of skills: your knowledge, know-how and soft skills will be assessed or at least gauged by the recruiters you meet.
Consequently, it seems imperative to us that we should talk to you about Doctors' skills.
What you need to know...
A PhD is an outstanding education program and a minimum of 3 years of professional experience. The skills developed through research practice are valuable and useful for the pursuit of a career. Your professional project will be based on your skills and should be worked on from the very beginning of your PhD studies.
What you need to understand...
The notion of skill is a complex and manifold one, and there is a great deal of literature on the subject.
PhD-related skills are now listed in the French National Directory of Professional Certification.
Please find below excerpts in French from the conference "PhD, which skills?" organized in February 2018 by the Doctoral College.
- Les compétences des docteurs : un socle commun et des métiers variés – Christelle Ventura – Head of ADOC TALENT MANAGEMENT
- Le portail Doc pro, un outil dynamique de valorisation des compétences – Vincent Mignotte – Head of the ABG
Your skills are therefore not limited to your scientific expertise, but also extend to your know-how and soft skills, which are developed and reinforced throughout your PhD.
You should recognize the skills you have acquired throughout your studies through research, but also the various sectors of activity related or unrelated to research deserve to be recognized.
What you need to learn...
You need to learn how to identify and recognize the skills you have developed during and outside of your thesis work, so that you can promote them after your PhD. This forms part of your PhD studies.
As a Doctor, you will be able to apply for many appealing jobs and we will help you achieve the requirements for success.
