A PhD is an exceptional experience during which students’ SKILLS develop, evolve, are enriched and help them achieve their goals. This notion of skills is increasingly part of the PhD student's academic path.

My name is Marie and I am a PhD student on assignment with the Université Grenoble Alpes Doctoral College. I am conducting a survey for PhDs and PhD students in order to promote the skills acquired and their value in a career.

The PhD is one of the highest qualifications. Once a PhD has been obtained, how can a PhD graduate position himself/herself within the job market and succeed? The recent graduate will rely on a career plan to guide him or her in their job search. Establishing a career plan is sometimes complicated when one is unable to identify one's assets. Skills are a vital element for PhDs facing the challenge of employability.

Everyone has their own set of skills. Identifying them requires a great deal of thought, but it is worth it! Skills are very important, not only in the construction of each career plan but also when it comes to demonstrating what one is capable of to a recruiter. Skills enable us to better know ourselves and can be a source of professional and personal fulfillment.
